Our client was renovating his luxury apartment in the heart of New York City; located in the Jenga Building on billionaires row. The liv. team were entrusted to scope and integrate a full smart home automation system into the luxury apartment; installing lighting & shading, security and indoor audio/visual as well as a mesh Wi-Fi network that seamlessly blended with client's vision.

During a thorough technology consultancy and design stage, we established what the client wanted and how it would be integrated within the home. The client made clear that their vision was to achieve a high level of technology integration for their home away from home.

As a result, liv. had to consider several factors. Firstly, this was a new build at the time to developer spec (meaning the apartment was functional but not finished to the client's specification.) The client had already formulated a vision with the interior designer's Hill House Interiors, and we brought that vision to life from a technical point of view. After a review process with the client and the interior designers, we produced a spec that felt appropriate to their needs and matched the designs produced by the designers.
A challenge we faced was the sheer amount of glass in this apartment. There are floor to ceiling glass windows in almost every room in this apartment that displays the incredible view. These are made up of divided panels, as opposed to one large glass panel. For us, this meant that shading was needed throughout, and the panel design needed over fifty individual automated shades. Such shades needed a large amount of cabling, which as at the time the apartment was finished to developer spec, meant we had to undertake complicated wiring work as opposed to accounting for this during the construction phase of the apartment.
